ABC Run #167, for Adopt-A-Family 



November 7 was a wonderful day for the ABC run at Underwood Park. Great temps, great fall foliage, great company, and great food. Thanks to the 40 participants plus four others that send
a donation, $2,170 was donated to Adopt-A-Family! This is enough to provide a great Christmas for our assigned family plus at least one additional family. Those that submit their donations to their corporate matching gift program will help even more. Thanks so much to everyone for your support and thanks to Lisa Sparks for doing a great job hosting. 

Our assigned family is a family of five. Mom & Dad have three children: two boys (3, 1) and a baby girl! Dad just started a new full time job. Mom is home with the kids. They have been trying to save money so they can buy a home. The oldest just started preschool and Mom is doing developmental activities at home. Mom & Dad do their best to meet their family’s needs but rarely have enough for more than that. This family and other families will greatly benefit from the Adopt-A-Family program.

Although the venue was outside, we had a great variety of goodies Rebecca Africano kept the “Meg’s coffee cake” tradition alive by making coffee cake cupcake. Rebecca also brought two varieties of individually wrapped cookies. Lisa Sparks brought fruit, chocolate milk, and orange juice.
Kevin Fahling brought chocolate chip cookies, Laurel Schumacher brought delish Danish, Mike Laffey was our photographer and brought doughnuts, Dawn Dieckgrafe brought bananas, and more (that’s all I remember). Thanks so much everyone! 

Twelve of the ABC runs were for Adopt-A-Family, for which we have generated $14,405. Think of all the people in our community that have been impacted. What a great act of kindness as they work toward being a more thriving, stable family. We have completed seventeen years of ABC runs and had a record year ($22,517 for the eight runs this year). The total for all 167 ABC runs is $189,063.

 ABC#179/Multi-Sport on May 20 was a great day. Thanks to 33 participants, $740 was donated to Timber Pointe Outdoor Center. We had to cancel the swim but it was a nice cool morning to run and to bicycle. Thanks so much to everyone who donated, attended, organized, volunteered, brought food, cooked, and enhanced the day with your enthusiasm. At 8:00, Lydia Gartner thanked us and told us about Timber Pointe’s programs. We than took a group photo and started the run. Some ran the road course (4 or 8 miles) and some ran trails. At 9:15, bicyclists took off for either 13 or 26 miles.   At 11:30, the cookout started. What a feast: grilled chicken breasts, brats, snacks, apple pie, coffee cake, cookies, banana bread, and beverages. Thanks to the chefs, Mike Johnson and Robbie Pratt . ABC Run/Walk #165 Report ABC Run #165 on August 21 was a success with $980 donated to Seedling Theatre thanks to the generosity of everyone involved. Thanks much to: (a) Laurel & Larry Schumacher for being awesome hosts at their home. (b) 30 attendees that donated a total of $980. (c) Sharri Pelarske and Laurel Schumacher , for donating homemade preserves for our drawing. I also donated a few jars of Meg’s chokecherry jelly for the drawing. (e) Seedling Theatre for donating tickets to an upcoming performance for our drawing. (h) everyone who brought food ! I don’t recall who all brought food, but I’m sure Laurel Schumacher made the biscuits & sausage gravy, Lisa Spark s made “Meg’s coffee cake”, and Donna Anhalt brought fruit & snacks.
